Caerdav is based at St. Athan, South Wales, UK (IATA code DGX; ICAO code EGDX). Situated on a former RAF maintenance base, the site now forms part of the Bro Tathan Enterprise Zone. Though just four miles west of Cardiff International Airport, the two are not connected. St. Athan boasts a 6,000ft ILS equipped runway, parking for up to 20 narrow-body aircraft and is approximately 20 minutes’ flight time from the UK’s major airports: LHR, LGW, LTN, BHX, LCY and MAN.
Our team of highly-skilled technicians can deliver a full suite of base MRO services to a variety of aircraft, though we predominantly focus on Boeing 737 Classic and 737NG, alongside the Airbus A320CEO family.
Caerdav currently holds EASA, FAA, UK CAA, TCCA, Saudi and 2Reg approvals, which it uses to provide airlines, VIP aircraft owners and aircraft lessors with a range of services, including heavy maintenance, modifications, engine & landing gear changes and component replacements. Caerdav also provides NDT, heat treatments and composite repairs, alongside parking for up to 20 narrowbody aircraft.
Though it does not have a full aircraft paint bay, the business does have the ability to repair and restore limited areas of paint on aircraft exteriors, alongside the capacity to paint interior components and major assemblies, through its dedicated onsite painting facility.
Our two modern, fully equipped and temperature-controlled hangars – known as Twin Peaks – boast 134,000 square feet of space and capacity for four lines of maintenance.
Caerdav is a genuinely independent MRO owned by Bruce Dickinson, lead singer of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden. An experienced commercial airline pilot and huge aviation enthusiast, he established the business in 2012. A serial entrepreneur, he still works tirelessly to support the company as Chairman – of course when he’s not touring the globe with the band, who celebrated their 50th year in the industry in 2026.
Caerdav currently has close to 300 staff, most of which live in the local area. The business boasts an extremely successful and award-winning apprenticeship programme, has close ties with a number of universities and is always on the lookout for skilled and experienced engineers. Apart from the fact the business is owned by an international heavy metal icon, Caerdav uses its independence as a unique selling point, promoting a ‘family feel’ and highly flexible workforce to its customers, operating in an area with a high concentration of aircraft companies.
Caerdav works with a wide range of customers, including some of the world’s largest airlines and most influential aircraft lessors, alongside private VIP operators and business aviation clients. Since inception in 2012, the business has welcomed aircraft into Twin Peaks from the likes of: Aercap, Airbus, Air Explore, Avolon, BBAM, Comlux, DHL, easyJet, Flyadeal, GE Aerospace, Heston, Jet2, Monarch, Ryanair, TAP, Trade Air and TUI Airlines – the list could go on and on…
The business began life as Cardiff Aviation when Bruce first opened the doors to Twin Peaks in 2012. In 2019 the company underwent a significant restructure and expansion, with a new name and new branding required to help it move onto this next chapter. A simple play on words, its new identity combined the Welsh for Cardiff, Caerdydd, with the AV of aviation – Caerdav was born.
