Role Profile – Production Planning Engineer

Location: Twin Peaks, St Athan
Hours of Work: Seasonal Shift: Monday – Friday: 07:00 – 18:15. Attendance hours from 1 September to 31 May (+10 days refresher training every August)
Salary: £42,820.544 per annum plus £6,000.00 shift allowance

Role Summary:

Part of an effective, high performing team, the Production Planning Engineer is responsible for planning and providing support to the Production Team to ensure all maintenance requirements are performed and completed in accordance with the MPD, AMP and the Customer’s requirements. Working within Part 145 Regulations, the Production Planning Engineer will effectively manage key planning processes to ensure all maintenance inputs are compliant with all airworthiness requirements and maximise aircraft serviceability. The Production Planning Engineer will be the interface between the Owner/Operator and Third Parties and will provide the Certificate of Release to Service on completion of the maintenance input.

Main responsibilities:

  • Liaises with the Customer representative to manage the Works Order including arranging, chairing and minuting daily meetings.
  • Responsible for handing over the maintenance work pack to the Bay Manager and for ensuring that sufficient planning resources are available to assist the Bay Manager distribute the work to the maintenance teams.
  • Sequencing/prioritising tasks into pre-hangar checks, operational checks and zones and managing all documentation to ensure that the Certificate of Release to Service (CRS) can be completed at the end of the check with confidence.
  • Liaises with approved third-party specialist service providers to procure and book the required services during the check ensuring the Compliance Team is informed of the work being undertaken.
  • Provides support to the Bay Manager throughout the check to ensure all maintenance and associated documentation is performed and completed without undue time pressure. 
  • Responsible for collating all additional work (WCR’s) and amendments to the List of Work and ensuring this is authorised by the Customer and remains with the Company’s scope of approval. 
  • Responsible for sending out a daily meeting report detailing the aircraft progress to our Customer and all parties listed on the Input Briefing Sheet.
  • Responsible for auditing and verifying the completed tasks, scanning and saving all documentation securely. This includes taking responsibility for periodic audits of the aircraft Document Log and all task cards throughout each aircraft maintenance check. 
  • Responsible for ensuring any outstanding materials/tooling are being progressed. This is to be done in collaboration with other Support functions.
  • Arranges fuel upload, via the Procurement department, if required.
  • Responsible for the accurate completion of the Component Record Sheet.
  • Assists with Certificate of Release to Service (CRS) completion, ensuring all logged documentation is present and accounted for in a timely manner, including fuel receipts and Form 1’s.
  • Responsible for closure of the work pack, in accordance with Company procedures including scanning and saving of all records and the dispatch of hard copies of such records, to the Customer/CAMO.
  • Responsible for the management of the post check review and chairs the Wash-up meeting, post aircraft departure.
  • Any other tasks and duties as reasonably required in accordance with the needs of the business.

Key requirements include: 

  • Relevant and demonstrable experience within an aircraft maintenance environment.
  • Previous experience within an aviation MRO part 145 (or equivalent) environment.
  • A minimum of 5 GCSE’s, grade C or above, (or equivalent) including Maths and English Language.
  • Appropriate technical qualification such as an engineering apprenticeship, or HNC or City & Guilds in a relevant engineering discipline. 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Detailed knowledge of engineering planning processes and procedures and a working knowledge of EASA Part 145 Regulation and CAP 562 desirable.
