Role:  NDT Engineer
Reports to: Production Manager

Location: Twin Peaks, St Athan
Hours of Work: (Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm, 37.5 hours)

Role Summary:

The successful applicant will carry out NDT tasks to Level 2 EN4179 standard in the disciplines of Ultrasonics, Eddy Current and Penetrant Testing on customer aircraft, alongside any tasking as required away from Caerdav.

Main responsibilities:

  • Working with the senior NDT Engineer at Caerdav to ensure all NDT tasking is completed as per specific NDT procedures, in accordance with the company MOE and NDT Written Practice on customer aircraft. To also link up with aircraft structure engineers and liaising with customer company representatives. 
  • Completing and maintaining NDT tasking and equipment maintenance paperwork, tool control and filing in an efficient and accurate format in accordance with company procedures.
  • Interfacing with the Planning Department and attendance at any pre-input/post maintenance aircraft meetings.
  • Maintaining a good level of NDT knowledge and to prepare for assessments and examinations as required.
  • Ensure full and effective liaison is maintained with all departments that are affected directly or indirectly by NDT Tasking.
  • Be required to train personnel within a specified area subject to your qualifications and experience, such as NDT Trainees or NDT appreciation presentations to apprentices or visitors.
  • Responsible for working in accordance with the company Framework, and compliance with the organisations policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests, or reputation of the Company.
  • Any other tasks and duties as reasonably required in accordance with the needs of the business.

Key requirements include:

  • Aircraft NDT tasking at MRO level or Level 2 EN4179/NAS410 standard in Ultrasonics, Eddy Current and Penetrant Testing.
  • Aircraft Structure and systems, specifically Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 family.
  • Basic knowledge of EASA/CAA/FAA requirements and other applicable aviation regulations.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety working practice.
  • Qualification and/or experience in other NDT disciplines such as Magnetic Particle Inspection, Radiography, Laser Shearography or Thermography desirable.
