Role: Airframe Technician
Reports to: Base Maintenance Manager

Location: Twin Peaks, St Athan
Hours of Work - Seasonal Shift: Monday – Sunday (5 or 4 days, 07:00 – 17:45 or 07:00 – 18:15 (depending on shift).
Attendance hours from 1 September to 31 May
(+10 days refresher training every August)
Salary: £37,033.98 plus £6,000 shift premium per annum

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, self-motivated Airframe Technician to join our dynamic team, using your experience within the aircraft engineering environment for all maintenance activities, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, in response to our customers’ requirements.

The Role:

You will have responsibility for assisting the Engineer with supervising, mentoring and delegating resources as the situation demands to ensure the smooth running of the operation, whilst meeting Part 145 maintenance requirements, our internal processes and procedures, and our customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Putting safety and quality first, you will ensure adherence to Health & Safety procedures whilst carrying out aircraft maintenance within the limits of your company approvals. Whilst upholding the highest level of engineering standards and practices, you will assist in driving the team to deliver defect rectification and investigation, repair, overhaul and modifications – all while upholding company values and culture, mentoring those under your supervision.

Main Responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out maintenance of aircraft as defined by our customers’ requirements/List of Work
  • Working in accordance with Company procedures giving due consideration to Human Factors philosophy, using only correctly maintained and uniquely identified personal tooling, Company tooling and calibrated test equipment.
  • Managing internal and external relationships with Customers, team members and Support departments and taking an active role to mentor colleagues.
  • Ensuring correct completion of all maintenance paperwork and forms in a timely manner before the end of the shift and in accordance with all aspects of the MOE Part 2 and procedures.
  • Informing Engineers of any adverse issues affecting safety, productivity and progression of work
  • Ensuring any unused material is correctly processed and returned to Stores when practical, following correct disposal instructions at all times
  • Ensuring correct storage of aircraft components and tooling, including blanking, labelling and protection in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintaining standard engineering practices regarding general husbandry, workplace cleanliness and FOD prevention measures
  • Recommending improvements in working conditions, practices and procedures that may result in an improvement in safety, efficiency and productivity
  • Assisting with hangar facility maintenance and general tasks
  • Any other tasks and duties as reasonably required in accordance with the needs of the business

Key requirements include:

  • Must be eligible to live and work in the UK
  • 3 years’ maintenance experience within a Part 145 organisation (including time served during an apprenticeship or similar recognised training)
  • Ability to use recognised aircraft documentation, including the Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives
  • Demonstrates a broad skill-set in maintaining aircraft systems including rigging, component replacement, and modification embodiment
  • Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of aircraft system(s)
  • Good structural knowledge, including ability to carry out structural repairs.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade C or above including Maths and English Language
  • Initial Human Factors, EWIS & Fuel Tank Safety
  • Desirable:
    - B1 Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence – UK CAA AML or EASA AML issued pre 31/12/2020; or UK CAA AML & EASA AML issued post 31/12/2020
    - Aircraft type course on Boeing 737NG; 737CL; 757; 767; Airbus A320 family
