Caerdav has launched a new Enhanced MCC Training to Airline Pilot Standards (APS-MCC) course, designed to provide an ‘all-in-one’ qualification for those looking to begin a career as a commercial pilot.

The course brings together separate programmes already offered by the South Wales-based pilot training company into a single extended bloc of classroom learning and simulator sessions.

Comprising a Jet Orientation Course (JOC), Multi-Crew Cooperation Course (MCC), Upset Recovery and Airline Operation, Caerdav’s new APS-MCC course will equip trainees who already hold an Airline Transport Pilot Licence with all the skills they require to secure a career with a major passenger operator.

On completion of the programme, candidates will be able to prevent, recognise and recover from aeroplane upset, and safely operate multi-pilot, multi-engine aircraft under IFR.

Paul Jones, Head of Training, Caerdav, says: “Previously, would-be airline pilots would go on multiple courses but increasingly, new entrants into the industry want to complete all their training in one go. Our new APS-MCC course responds to that demand and will help new pilots qualify more quickly without compromising on quality – vital when there is a global pilot shortage.”

Caerdav’s APS-MCC course includes five days of theoretical classroom training combined with 40 hours in one of the company’s Boeing 747-400 simulators, certified to Level CG.

Courses begin in April and are designed to enable trainees to work with any EASA-certified airline.

Once complete, the trainee will have completed the first step towards their first Type Rating course.
